Hannah´s World (February)

Someone please tell me where time is going. I mean time is flying already much faster when living in Shanghai. But since Hannah is here the speed has picked up by at least double, sleep has been cut in half the time and life has been up side down...a good up side down :-)

Naturally our life currently exists mostly of fun Hannah and not so much Shanghai stories. I therefore have decided to dedicate one post a month to Hannah, so that you can catch up and follow how she starts to explore her own little world/Shanghai.

Today we go back one month and start with some snap shots of

February:
We went to have our family photos taken by photographer Larissa Axlund who is based here in Shanghai.
Larissa has specialized in new borns and has the most amazing talent with the little ones.

She did not mind that during our 3 hour shooting Hannah made 3 no1´s. and 1 no.2´s in free fall in her studio...Larissa had to change outfit twice! :-)...No way I would have had the patience to do this myself.. and also I wanted to have a couple of nice pictures with me in, too :-)

Then it was carnival in Germany.. and thanks to the world wide web did not have to miss out on our tradition here in Shanghai :-)

no, Hannah was not impressed :-)

Hannah has also met our friends:

Little Max (my friend Mira´s son):

Uncle Ati:

Uncle Benno:

and the rest of our Shanghai "family" during her first Brunch in the "Paulaner" brewhouse.

For a while it was also like celebrating xmas all over again.
The postman delivered nearly every day a little parcel or card from all over the world..

I have developed techniques to get my shower in the morning :-)

And over the weeks here personality started to come out:

and this is where the REAL fun starts..
more about that in the next post.. ..very soon!

Spring is here!

Just like back home in Europe we were waiting like everyone else for spring to start. Especially this year when we experienced an unusual amout of snow. And after 8 weeks staying mostly in doors I felt a bit desperate for some warmth and sunshine.

Like the Chinese new year, China has it´s own way of recognizing the start of spring officially. The rule is that the  temperature has to stay above 10 degrees celcius for 5 days in a row after the Spring festival. And - hooray! -  I just read that the meterological bureau is expecting this to happen this week.

To be honest, in a way this makes more sense than announcing spring every year by the calendar on March 21st and then beeing frustrated that you still have snow on your doorstep.

But this year we didn´t  really need the authorities ot announce the warmer season to realize that spring has made it to Shanghai. We noticed it already when we bought the entrance ticket to Century Park on sunday. The price doubled over night from 10 to 20 RMB!

But they have a good reason for it. With the start of spring the cherry trees blossom turning the park into a bit of an attraction. It may not be as impressive as in Japan, but I must admit: It looks beautiful.

Here are some snapshots from this lovley day with some of the classic "Park-Happenings"

Get out your BIG lenses!!
nearly every tree is occupied  by a photographer

Good day for a wedding photo shoot:

yes, she IS sitting on her dress...

Traditional wedding car decorations on the big day..

Kids love the bubble machine:

And after the walk the three fo us enjoyed lunch in the Kerry Center followed by a massage for mommy. How handy that the brewery and Dragonfly Spa are neighbours!
