This Blog is about loving and living in Shanghai. 25 Million Chinese and US! - two "lao wais" (foreigners) called Paul and Angelika who are living right in the heart of the city. Not one day passes where we don´t get fascinated by living here as this place is full of stories and adventures. Big ones, small ones and of coarse our very personal one. You are warmly invited to experience some of these adventures with us and to find out that after all Shanghai is only just a little more crazy than other parts in the world. It´s all a matter of perspective :-). Welcome to our home and to the GOLDLINCOLN Blog!

Dining in Heaven...

Last friday Paul and I had  something to celebrate. Not only that I´m back from India, it was also our anniversary. It´s been long on the agenda to go to one of the TOP restaurants in the city and finally we had a good excuse to go to the world famous Jean George - Shanghai.

For the ladies: I was also a good excuse to invest in some new foot wear.. look at these heels!! :-)

Jean George is located right on the Bund and you get the most marvellous view of the river and both skylines when you get seated on one of the tables at the window.

And now to the food - Oh MY GOD!!! After one month of Indian (lovley!) curries and an even longer time without booze I felt like my tastebuds celebrated a festival. If food could play music in my mouth than I had a major symphony going on over 4 wonderful french courses including such mouth watering dishes like goat cheese gnochis and pear risotto....mhhh...
Even the service was perfect - and that is a Big statement for Shanghai.

After 2,5 gourmet hours, one glass of champagne and some sips of wine  I reached nirvana in the grand finale: eating this chocolate mouse:

And what have I learnt?
Forget about meditating - Chocolate does it all for me!!! :-)

Back in the jungle!

Here we are - I´m back! From the lush green jungles of India to the concrete pillars of Shanghai. You wonder how that felt moving from one extreme to the other? I can answer this in one word:
G R E A T!!!

I feel totally refreshed, charged, full of plans and ready to deep dive into our second year of adventures in China.

Also in Shanghai spring is on it´s way and along with my spring cleanig I decided that this was a good time to fresh up the layout of the blog a little. We have entered the year of the dragon and signed up for another year in our lovley apartment in Gao An Road (lu)  - a good enough to ask in the coming months:

What´s new in Gao An Lu???

Get ready for some more fun stories from us in Shanghai and our travels in China. And take a look at the new background picture. This is the road where we are going to report from!

But for now you have to excuse me, there is still some indian laundry that needs to be taken care of :-)
